The two have shown outstanding interest in fighting for the migrant rights of people in Arizona through dedicating some money to fund the organizations that fight for human rights in Arizona.

The money directed to the Larkin & Lacey Frontera Fund are from the settlement cash which aroused from an arrest by Joe Arpaio. Jim and Michael were arrested by the Maricopa County Sheriff on October 18, 2007.

The two reporters had earlier sued the county-based on the motive of the implementation of amendment rights. They won the case and were given settlement money which they decided to direct towards this endeavor.

The money amounted to $3.75 million. This amount of money is expected to support numerous groups in Arizona which fight for migrant, civil and human rights. Moreover, the funds are supposed to be used in the financing of the groups to ensure free civic participation and freedom of speech.
